February Member Spotlight: Claudia Timbo

A passion for philanthropy has allowed NAWBO Philly chapter member Claudia Timbo to both give and receive. Before opening her third business, CompanyVoice, LLC, in 2012, Claudia had some “non-compete” time on her hands. She did a little exploring and found a number of organizations (i.e., ClariFi Financial Educators, Pathways School and the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia) with which she gladly shared her expertise.

“I met fabulous business women, many of whom would become investors in CompanyVoice, enabling me to achieve the Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) certification from the National Women Business Owners Corporation,” said Claudia.

CompanyVoice is a full-service inbound and outbound contact center located in suburban Philadelphia. They use multiple communication tools and leading-edge technology. The secret to CompanyVoice‘s success, according to Claudia, is by harnessing the power of the mature woman. For instance CompanyVoice employs retired women, women returning to the workforce and executive women in transition. They employ part-time, full-time, seasonal and project-specific workers. “I began this strategy in my first telemarketing business and have stuck with it all the way through my current (fifth) contact center.”

Claudia is obviously doing something right. The state of Pennsylvania honored CompanyVoice as 2014 Outstanding Employer. She spoke on this topic at the Governor’s Jobs Summit as part of an expert panel for the Department of Aging. CompanyVoice was the 17th call center in the United States to be accredited for compliance excellence for inbound and outbound channels of contact center operations by the Professional Association for Customer Engagement (PACE). Amazing, especially considering CompanyVoice is less than three years old.

Not one to let the grass grow under her feet, Claudia has launched three new companies over the past 15 years, selling two of them (to a publishing firm and a private equity group respectively). The resulting revenue in excess of $15M created a measurable profit for her investors! “I am building CompanyVoice towards that same end. I am very fortunate to have had many of the same investors in all three endeavors,” said Claudia.
